Report: A few of the Eagles’ top players might not be on the team following the 2024 NFL Draft

Veterans of the Eagles who won’t be safe after the 2024 NFL Draft.

Put the strongest team on the field at all times. That is the aim of every NFL team. There are teams who do better than this one. Jeffrey Lurie is fortunately the owner of the Philadelphia Eagles.

Howie Roseman, the general manager and vice president, works for them. When you consider that you might have been born in Charlotte and raised as a Panthers fan, it’s actually quite the bright side.

Once more, “HowieSZN” hashtags are widely used on X, the website that was formerly known as Twitter. Nobody stacks his team like the legendary Howie. After having to cope with the heartache of the previous season’s collapse, this offseason has been fantastic for viewing.

During free agency, Philly was productive. They did contribute to the 2024 NFL Draft (as well as the subsequent acquisition of several UDFAs). The roster is packed here. There is only one issue. Philly is not able to hold onto everyone.

For the length of training camp, each NFL team is permitted to carry ninety-nine prospects. The depth chart may be adjusted multiple times before being reduced to 53 players and a 16-person practice squad. It is unavoidable. Good players and well-known faces will be sent packing.

Those players will include some seasoned veterans. May is still young. We might be able to identify some of the guys under investigation, but things can always change.

Regression and what transpired with James Bradberry during the 2023 NFL season are two different things. That requires a word of its own.

Instead of watching 17 more games of what he recorded the previous season, Philly could want to discuss if he should be considered for a post-June 1st cut. That way, Philly wouldn’t have to take on the entire $15 million dead cap charge at once.

Zech McPhearson was supposed to be Philly’s backup slot corner just the previous season, but his chances of doing so were dashed by an injury sustained during the preseason.

Since Quinyon Mitchell and Cooper DeJean were added to the roster in the most recent draft and the NFL lifted Isaiah Rodgers’ ban, Zech will undoubtedly have more difficulties making this 2024 squad.

Although Patrick Johnson and Tarron Jackson are both talented players, each NFL team has a depth chart. A numbers game is represented by each depth chart.

Bryce Huff, Josh Sweat, Nolan Smith, and Brandon Graham are ahead of both of these players in the hierarchy, and others believe that the odds are in favor of Philly holding onto 2024 third-round pick Jalyx Hunt.

Although Jackson and Johnson are perpetually on the bubble every summer, that doesn’t mean they can’t make the roster. Furthermore, it seems that this ascent will be the hardest that any of them will have to undertake.

Jeff Stoutland respects Le’Raven Clark and Brett Toth, to put it simply. Although they are reserves, both have demonstrated their worth and should be on an NFL squad. Whether that roster is Philly’s or not is the question.

In 2023, Tyler Steen was selected. In March, Matt Hennessy was purchased. April saw the drafts of Trevor Keegan and Dylan McMahon, and shortly after the selection meeting, Philly added two UDFAs, Gottlieb Ayedze and Anim Dankwah. Oh, and don’t forget about Mekhi Becton’s signing.

All of a sudden, it seems like these two are in a “one or the other scenario.” It doesn’t seem like there is room for Philly to keep both DeVante Parker and Parris Campbell, does it?

Parker might have a small advantage. Perhaps he doesn’t. Who knows? This is what we do know. While Johnny Taylor and Ainias Smith were recently drafted, A.J. Brown and DeVonta Smith are here to stay.

Assume Philadelphia keeps six wide receivers on their 53-man roster. For two roster places, Parker and Campbell will face competition from Shaquan Davis, Austin Watkins, Joseph Ngata, Jacob Harris, and Britain Covey. As usual, that wide receiver competition will be fascinating.

Yes, Albert Okwuegbunam signed a one-year contract extension with Philly. Granted, Grant Calcaterra won’t be able to sign a free agent contract until 2026, but let’s be reasonable. Philadelphia isn’t benefiting much from either of them.

C.J. Uzomah is currently a Bird. Philly signed a gifted UDFA to their roster who can offer something that Albert O. and Grant haven’t been able to: a playmaker with the ball in his hands following a reception.

Castles might prove to be superior during preseason and training camp. That’s an assurance. Will Philadelphia maintain four or three tight ends? That’s a significant query. Think this through in the interim.

Calcaterra and Okwuegbunam are both capable of making the squad. It is possible to omit both from the list. Either one could be added to the roster. The three situations are all plausible.
